UPDATE: We are sad to report that Kassidy lost her fight against cancer. No words can convey the sadness and heart break her family and friends are going through. May she rest in peace and know that she will never be forgotten. She was a give from God and anyone who knew her or met her is a better person…
This blog is primarily dedicated to Virginia Tech sports, but occasionally, we feel the need to talk about other things. Today is one of those occasions.
Kassidy Foster lives in Franklin County, Va. She is 12 years old, a sixth-grader and an active gymnast … she also has bone cancer that has taken her right leg and spread to her lungs and ribs.
Kassidy is the niece of my friend and co-worker, Wanda Foster. Today, 25 of Kassidy’s classmates at Check Elementry School shaved their heads in support of their friend. On Sunday, Wanda will also shave her sandy blonde hair after she raised nearly $1,500 to support her family.
Please stop and say a prayer for Kassidy and her family. And if you feel like you want to do more, visit www.kassidyspage.com for more information. You can also read and article about Kassidy that appeared in today’s edition in the Roanoke Times by click on the following link: http://www.roanoke.com/news/nrv/wb/117319.
Finally, if you have kids, kiss them, hug them and tell them you love them. Never take them for granted.
