Johnston (SC) Strom Thurmond QB Aramis Hillary (6-3, 228) said his phone was ringing off the hook on Thursday, but it was not from college recruiters. It was friends and family members calling Hillary to congratulate him on the new 2008 Rivals.com rankings: He was rated as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback in the USA by one of the country’s premiere recruiting services.
“It’s always nice to be recognized, but I consider it more of a team award than any individual recognition,” Hillary said. “If I didn’t have great linemen blocking for me and great receivers making plays, none of it would’ve been possible.”
Hillary has six offers, led by East Carolina and Mississippi State. He has been told he is finalist for a QB scholarship by at least 10 other schools, including Tennessee, Auburn, Virginia, Kentucky, and Hawaii, among others. He plans to go to prospect camp at Kentucky or Georgia on Friday, and then head to Tennessee camp on Saturday.
